Meet Anita – Your Reiki Practitioner and Teacher
Sharing the traditional~ based Japanese system of Reiki
“When we give ourselves the chance to let go of all our tension, the body’s natural capacity to heal itself can begin to work.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh
Anita Kyriazopoulos is the founder and teacher of Heart of Reiki Melbourne. She offers and teaches a traditional-based Japanese Reiki system rooted in spiritual practice, simplicity, and meditative stillness. Reiki helps reveal one’s innermost true essence—an essence that is always present within, though often hidden beneath layers of fear, anger, or worry. Through Reiki practice, these burdens begin to gently soften, bringing deep relaxation, inner peace, and a sense of connection.
By reconnecting with this beautiful, ancient wisdom, your energetic field—within and around you—begins to expand, filling your heart and the hearts of those you encounter.
In addition to treatments and courses, Anita also offers a one-day “Heart to Heart with Animals” workshop, open to anyone seeking a deeper, more present connection with their animal companions. These workshops are a gentle and heart-centered way to explore interspecies communication through stillness and presence.
Anita’s journey into spirituality and healing began in early childhood, following the sudden loss of her older brother and, shortly after, her beloved dog. These profound losses opened the door to a lifelong curiosity about life, healing, and the unseen connections that unite us all.
She first experienced Reiki in 1996, while pregnant with her third child. The profound sense of peace she felt during those sessions supported her through a loving and blissful labor and birth. The many calming Reiki treatments that followed left a deep imprint on her, eventually leading her to learn Reiki herself. This path of healing helped her soften and integrate many deep and painful life experiences.
Anita has trained in Reiki with six wonderful teachers and continues to deepen her practice today. Her long-standing involvement with the International House of Reiki and her deep love for animals eventually led her to Florida, where she trained with Animal Reiki Source. Practicing Reiki with exotic animals at The Care Foundation through shared meditations was a heart-opening and unforgettable experience.
In 2015, Anita met Hyakuten Inamoto, the founder of Komyo ReikiDo, at an international Reiki conference. She began formal studies with him in 2019 and recently travelled to Japan to continue her training. She is now delighted to offer all four levels of Komyo ReikiDo teachings.
Beyond Reiki, Anita has long been a student of meditation and spiritual disciplines. Over the years, she has trained in a range of meditation systems including Transcendental Meditation (TM), Vipassana, and Kriya Yoga. These practices continue to enrich her personal journey and deepen the spiritual foundation of her Reiki work.
Anita also practices Tibetan Buddhism and began studying Zen Buddhism during the COVID-19 pandemic under the guidance of a Zen teacher. She recognises that, at their core, Reiki and Buddhism both guide us back to our compassionate nature—our infinite divine self. Through gratitude, kindness, and compassion, we begin to soften pain and return to our inherent peace.
Anita has also volunteered with nonprofit organisations such as Robyn’s Rescue for Animals and the Australian Reiki Connection Assoc, and she warmly hosts international students—often introducing them to Reiki as part of their cultural experience in Australia.
She lives near the heart of Melbourne with her family and beloved animal companions, and cherishes time with her beautiful granddaughters, Bella, Allie, and Evie.
Anita continues to offer weekly Reiki Shares, both online and In person, open to practitioners from all Reiki lineages, and teaches all levels of Reiki with an ongoing commitment to supporting her students well beyond the classroom.
